What you always wanted to know about polycystic ovary syndrome, Sofia, 12/2011

The ESHRE Reproductive Endocrinology Special Interest Group held a two-day workshop in Sofia titled “What you always wanted to know about polycystic ovary syndrome” — a clinical entity associated with both short- and long-term problems for women.

The workshop reviewed the joint ESHRE/ASRM consensus on the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome. Topics also included the epidemiology and ethnic variability of the syndrome, with particular emphasis on managing its specific manifestations during adolescence.

Further topics included managing obesity, improving lifestyle habits, and addressing dermatological issues, infertility, ovulation induction, the specific challenges in assisted reproduction, and the psychological and quality-of-life aspects of women with polycystic ovaries.
