MSD Ukraine lecture series, Kyiv, 11/2011
This educational event for reproductive medicine specialists from Ukraine and Russia took place in Kyiv at the end of November. Topics included prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and the use of GnRH analogues and luteinising hormone (LH) in ovarian stimulation for IVF — both from an efficacy and a pharmacoeconomic perspective.
Invited lecture:
The evidence on the use of LH, effect of LH on the results of IVF/ICSI.
LH is widely used during ovarian stimulation. Yet there are no data on which to base such an intervention, and its use is purely empirical. Distinguishing interventions supported by data from those based on unproven assumptions is essential in reproductive medicine if we are to offer couples the most effective and at the same time the simplest and most patient-friendly treatment.
