Fertility Summit: Innovations in Patient-Focused Therapy, Barcelona, 3/2010

At one of the major meetings of 2010, addressed exclusively to specialists in assisted reproduction, corifollitropin alfa was presented in Europe for the first time. Corifollitropin alfa — a long-acting FSH — is a major advance in reproductive medicine that contributes to the simplification of ovarian stimulation.

A single corifollitropin alfa injection replaces 7 daily FSH injections. The woman undergoing ovarian stimulation thus receives one injection that covers the first 7 days of treatment. In approximately one-third of women, no further FSH injection is needed before oocyte retrieval.
