The use of oral contraceptives as pre-treatment before ovarian stimulation for IVF

This work presented the effect of oral contraceptive pre-treatment on pregnancy outcome. Across six randomised studies, the pregnancy rate is lower by approximately 5% when oral contraceptives are used for cycle scheduling. In such cases, before initiating oral contraceptives, the couple should be informed of this and should consider whether the convenience of cycle scheduling outweighs the reduction in pregnancy rate.
