ELONVA Practice Integration Program, Lübeck, 3/2011

This clinical workshop brought together physicians working exclusively in reproductive medicine from Australia, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Greece. Its aim was practical integration of the new long-acting gonadotropin (ELONVA) into ovarian stimulation for IVF.

The scientific meeting was organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Schleswig-Holstein, one of the first centres in Germany and Europe to use long-acting FSH for ovarian stimulation in IVF. The meeting combined lectures with a substantial number of real challenging cases involving the use of GnRH antagonists and the long-acting FSH ELONVA.

Optimal Usage of the Antagonist Protocol in IVF

The use of long-acting FSH (ELONVA) is closely linked to the use of GnRH antagonists (Orgalutran – Cetrotide). The lecture emphasised — beyond the techniques that optimise antagonist use — their incomparably greater safety compared with the agonist long protocol still widely used.
