Premature ovarian insufficiency — one of the most intractable problems in human reproduction — was the subject of this meeting, organised by the Reproductive Endocrinology Special Interest Group of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Utrecht in early December 2013.

Discussions focused on the most up-to-date treatment options for women with prematurely aged ovaries who do not respond to standard pharmacological therapy.
